Tutoring Services

Sessions are between $25 and $45 per session.

Sessions are between 50 minutes and 1 hour.

Technically, no. That being said, based on experience of more than 25 years, students seem most successful when averaging between 3 sessions and 5 hours per week spanning over a period of several weeks. 

It is also advised to start sooner rather than later. Once a student's confidence with math starts to decline, unnecessary frustrations can cause additional issues in other areas of school and/or life.

Sessions are required to be scheduled and paid for one week in advance. If less notice than that is possible, please connect with Ashley directly and she will advise what options are available at the time of contact. 

Due to limitations of the host for this website, booking tutoring sessions is done manually by Ashley and will take place after the appropriate package from above has been purchased. Once you have paid for your package, you will be asked to download a document titled Next Steps. Please download this document and read thoroughly for the best experience possible.

Ask Ashley accepts all major credit and debit cards.

Sessions are scheduled a minimum of one week in advance and paid for at the time of booking. After selecting the package you are interested in, you will be prompted for payment information. Your payment information is kept secure and Ask Ashley does not receive card details.

• Ashley will tutor from the comforts of a home office and the student chooses their location. 
• Sessions are held virtually using Zoom and Miro. These two apps are free. You will  need to have a GMail account to make the most use of Miro.
• You will receive a Zoom link for each scheduled session and only one Miro link prior to the first session for the entire tutoring experience.

Students are required to be located in an appropriate place. Some students have started a Zoom call from what was obviously their bed or bedroom. In this situation, students are directed to move to a more appropriate location and are immediately disconnected from the session. A notice to the parent is sent immediately. 

• Students are expected to be punctual. 
• If a student is late, the time cannot be made up.  
• They will be able to use the remainder of their session.
• Parents will be notified if a student arrives more than five minutes late.

• Cancellations with less than a 24-hour notice are non-refundable and may not be rescheduled or made up.
• Cancellations with more than a 24-hour notice can be rescheduled, but may not be refunded.
• If a student becomes suddenly ill, a refund will not be issued, but rescheduling within one week from cancellation will be an option.

Different age groups of children typically need different tutors. For this reason, Ashley does not accept students younger than 9 years of age. 

• Ashley has tutored on and off the past 28 years.
• Previously employed by Indian Land High School (Indian Land, SC) as a shadow and substitute teacher from Spring 2019 through Spring 2020.
• Tutored math for Des Moines Area Community College, state of Iowa and privately including but not limited to: basic math skills, algebra I and II, calculus, test prep, math section for law enforcement officer exams, nursing students, college students, etc.
• Taught required pre-licensing courses (including math) for those wanting to enter the real estate field.
• Trained many different topics in many different industries based on projects and assignments.

Ashley loves to learn...so it's no surprise she followed her heart and went where she wanted to go! Some of her education includes:

• Graduate of the Tippie College of Business, University of Iowa (Iowa City, Iowa) with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management (Focus on Negotiation)
• Graduate of Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC, West Des Moines, IA) with an Associate of Arts
• Attended classes at Grandview University (partnership with DMACC)
• Graduate of Des Moines Area Community College (Ankeny, IA) with an Associate of Science
• Attended Central Campus/Academy (Des Moines, IA) studying advanced high school and college-level courses

Safety is key! Ashley is licensed by the North Carolina Protective Services Board to provide armed security. This means you can be assured she has been through a thorough FBI background check AND passed. She protects total strangers and has for years...it's just who she is.

She has trained security and law enforcement in countering the threat in the case of an active shooter and how to provide highest level of executive protection (high-threat level body guard work). 

She has trained victims of human trafficking, real estate agents, college students, etc. on how to use self-defense that suits their needs and lifestyles.

It is important to find the right tutor! Please, please, please do not hesitate to ask questions or provide information that is need-to-know such as learning disabilities, etc. Not every tutor is a good fit for every student, nor is every student a good fit for every tutor.
